2024 was an incredible year for the City of Orem. It will go down on on record as one of the best, as far as making progress on things that matter to you – like new parks, pedestrian safety, building community through service, and giving you more for your tax dollars.
But we’re not done. In fact, we’re just getting started.
Here are a few of the major things we’re locking in on for 2025:
- Finishing our new City Center, which will be completed soon, with no new taxes, no debt, and on budget
- Building an exceptional Fire Training Facility so our first responders are fully prepared to save lives
- Remodeling the Orem Public Library to give patrons an incredible place to learn, grow, and gather
- Creating a new basketball court in Windsor Park in partnership with the Utah Jazz
- Building out Phase 3 of the Bike Skills Course at Mt. Timpanogos Park.
- Creating new pickleball and tennis courts at Northridge Park
- Dedicating the Gold Star Family Monument – Utah County’s only tribute to families that have lost loved ones in the Armed Forces
To guide our efforts this year, we just held our annual City Council retreat where we set our annual goals.
- Aligning the Interests of the City Council, City Employees, and the Community:
We want to foster internal and external unity by focusing on clear, honest communication, expanding service opportunities, and teaming up with neighborhood groups and business partners to strengthen our sense of community. - Safe, Livable, Connected, and Engaged Neighborhoods:
We’ll prioritize community engagement, for all of our residents, through events like Oremfest, A Taste of Orem, and Lights On to bring us all closer together. Additionally, we’re focused on preserving neighborhood character, promoting long-term residency, and exploring innovative ways to renew and improve our neighborhoods. - Thriving and Balanced Business Environment:
We’re enhancing communication and collaboration through the Orem Business Alliance, supporting local businesses, and streamlining the licensing process to continue to make Orem a great place to start and grow a business. - Dependable Infrastructure:
From beautifying State Street to enhancing our trail system, we’re focused on keeping Orem moving forward. Reliable and well-maintained infrastructure is the backbone of any successful city, and it starts with ensuring our essential services are strong, efficient, and ready to support our community. - Promoting Community-Focused and Effective Government:
We’ll continue building our relationships with state legislators, strengthening partnerships with UVU, myHometown, the new school district, and others to make sure Orem has what it needs to thrive. - Cultivating a Skilled and Talented Workforce:
We’ll continue to invest in our amazing city employees so that they can in turn serve you better. By creating more cross-training opportunities and career growth options, we’ll make sure we’re recruiting and retaining the very best.
You’re going to see incredible things happen in Orem this year as we all work together for this community we love so much.
Here’s to another great year of progress, partnership, and making Orem the best it can be!
