Garbage & Recycling
The City of Orem is partnered with Waste Management to provide exceptional garbage and recycling service. When you sign up for a utility account with the city, you will receive both a garbage and recycling bin for one low monthly price.
Garbage is picked up once a week on your assigned pick-up day and recycling is picked up every other week but on the same day as your garbage.

Cost Per Month:
- First Can + Recycling – $18.40
- Second Can – $12.55
- Extra Recycling Can – $4.85
- Green Waste* – $7.10
* The green waste bin can be used for both organic waste as well as regular trash.
If your garbage bin wasn’t emptied this week, please call/text 801-229-7000.
If you need to order a new garbage bin or replace a broken, lost, or stolen can, please call/text 801-229-7000.
If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, pick-up will be as usual. If a holiday falls on a Monday – Friday, collection may be delayed by one day. Normal scheduled service will resume the following week.
The holidays that will cause a one-day delay are:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day

When you have more garbage or green waste than will fit in your can, you may take that trash to the landfill on your own. The North Pointe Landfill is located at 2000 W 200 S, in Lindon. They are open 7:00 am to 6:00 pm M-F and 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday.
Orem is a ‘participating’ city so as you can see on the attached fee schedule, you will receive a reduced rate on your load. Please be sure to take proof that you are an Orem resident in the form of an ID with your Orem address or your Orem City Utility bill.
There is no charge for loads containing only green waste as long as your load is covered and you provide proof of Orem residency.

The City offers curbside green waste collection. Both yard waste and regular garbage are allowed in these cans. The can will be charged and emptied year round.

The City of Orem runs an annual Christmas Tree Drop-Off Program where citizens can drop real Christmas trees at various locations for disposal.
