Neighborhood Improvement Team – Gary LeDoux
● Gary gave updates from the Neighborhood Improvement team.
● Invited members to continue to send in complaints and concerns to help with enforcement.
myOrem Update – Bradley Day
● 20,000 total utility accounts about 20% residents have moved over to the myOrem software.
● Full launch will be up in November- residents will be required to use it. They have been told through various different ways.
● Looking into other city payments to integrate into myOrem such as Business License’s, Permits etc.…
One Kind Act a Day – Bradley Day
● Requesting willing volunteers from the committee to help with signage placement, school outreach and participation. (volunteers to help will be Tami Rodrigues, Mark Seastrand, Lisa Lesser, Debbie Lamb and Amy Green)
Beautification Awards – Amy Green
● It was noted that the process was so much better and easier this year for the Beautification Awards.
● A suggestion that it would have been nice to know the addresses of the homes so that the committee could drive by and see.
● Also perhaps something could be worked out on the backend to make all of the pictures more accessible, rather than just one on the main space.
● The committee discussed inviting winners to be recognized at a city council meeting, where the mayor could present the awards.
● Also discussed the possibility of posting the winners to the city’s social media platforms, website and newsletters to further engage the community.
● Bradley announced the winners to the committee
● It was noted that representation was greatly diverse and recognized this year and the 5 nominations per neighborhood was a good amount, and could do more in the future.
● It was also suggested that there could be new categories during the selection process such as Water-Wise, Patriotic, Farms and Orchards etc..
● One suggestion for next year was to include the word “Nominee” on the yard signs then a “District Winner” addition to the signs after the contest.
The City will send those invites to the winners and commission members if that is the chosen course of action.
Awards will be distributed by the board members if the winners are unable to attend a council meeting.
