The sale and discharge of fireworks is regulated by the state but enforced locally by cities. Here are the most recent regulations for fireworks.

An executive order has been issued banning all fireworks on state-owned lands – AND – all unincorporated private lands within the state of Utah.

City Of Orem Fireworks Restrictions

DUE TO EXTREMEM FIRE DANGER, OREM CITY HAS ISSUED RESTRICTIONS ON THE USE OF FIREWORKS IN SPECIFIC AREAS OF THE CITY.

  1. Fireworks are prohibited in or within 100 feet of any undeveloped areas of the city.
  2. Fireworks are prohibited in or within 500 feet of any National Forest or BLM lands
  3. Fireworks are prohibited within the designated areas shown on the map (highlighted in yellow)

All residents should use care and adult supervision when discharging fireworks in the authorized areas of the city.

If you start a fire, accidentally or intentionally, with legal or illegal fireworks, in any area of Utah, you will be responsible for the cost to fight the fire and any damages it causes. These fires are VERY expensive and dangerous to fight. Please do not put you , your family, or your neighbors at risk by the careless use of fireworks.

2024 Fireworks: Sales and Discharge dates. For sales, class "C" fireworks can be sold the following dates: June 24 through July 25, December 29 through December 31, and 2 days before and on Chinese New Year's Eve. For discharge dates, between the hours of 11 AM and 11 PM except as noted: July 2 through July 5 (July 4 hours extended to midnight), July 22 through July 25 (July 24 hours extended to midnight), December 31 11 AM through January 1 1AM, and Chinese New Year's Eve February 9 through February 10, 2024 (11 AM through 1 AM the following day). If New Year's Eve is on a Sunday and the county, municipality or metro township determines to celebrate New Year's Even on the prior Saturday (December 30), then a person may discharge Class C common State approved explosive on that prior Saturday within the county, municipality, or metro township;
